The Truth Behind the Star of Joanne Woodward

Many believe that Joanne Woodward was the first celebrity to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, this is untrue. In fact, the original 1,550 stars were created and installed as a unit in 1960. No one star was officially first, the first completed star was Stanley Kramer’s. No one truly knows how this rumor got started. Johnny Grant, the long-time Honorary Mayor of Hollywood believes that since Joanne was the first celebrity to agree to pose with her star for photographs that the collective public imagination singled her out as the first awardee. Joanne Woodward was inducted into the Walk of Fame on August 15, 1958. Her star is located at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard.

  1. Hi Katie, I️ was wondering if you could help me out with something? I’m reading a biography on Jimmy at the moment (not by Munn) and it talks about how he had an affair with Marlene Dietrich, impregnated her, and forced her to have an abortion. So obviously I️ did some research, which also led to me finding a bunch of racism allegations (all tracing back to Munn’s biography). I️ really don’t think either are true, because I️ really have deep belief he’s not like that, but I️ really wanted to ask you to give your expertise on both subjects, because I️ have a feeling you’ll be able to ease my confusion. I️ was so distraught to read both things about him, and it’s been eating me alive all day. So I️ would really appreciate it if you’d give some feedback on that so I️ can set my thoughts straight. Thanks!!

    1. Hi, love! Everything in Munn’s book is a lie and it is straight up trash. I’ve never seen proof of any of these! Munn’s own family doesn’t believe that he was friends with Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, or any other star. I believe that he is just one of those people who try to ruin a star for attention. I lose all respect/credit for anyone who tries to use him as a credible source. Again, besides Munn I’ve never seen any of this stuff come up before and again, I’ve never seen proof of it either. Definitely not true! Don’t worry about things like that, it is usually just an attempt to get attention by hurting the reputation of a star. Also, I’ve never seen any proof of Munn knowing Jimmy Stewart or anyone in the Stewart family talking about him. I miss and love you! ❤

    1. I haven’t looked into that to much but again I really doubt it. I’ll look into it more but the way this is brought up is so WEIRD! I mean he says this and then says that Jimmy was an investigator and knows who murdered Marilyn. Again, we all know that Marilyn wasn’t murdered. Also, for his proof for this he just says that it was something told to him by Jimmy or Gloria. I’ve never seen anything that indicates that Munn ever met Jimmy at all let alone had a friendship with him. I mean if you were Jimmy would you tell such a huge secret to some random guy? It just doesn’t make sense.
